The bi-disciplinary program "Politics and Socio-Political History in Russia and Eastern Europe" is shared by the Department of Political Science (Faculty of Social Sciences) and the Department of Russian and Slavic Studies (Faculty of Humanities).

   From the beginning of the 18th century Russia was a political and military power. Even after the disintegration of the USSR, Russia continues to play a major role in world politics. Its importance increased even more with the resumption of the Cold War and the strengthening of Russia in the Middle East.
